Dr. Maryann Giel-Moloney

Dr. Maryann Giel-Moloney received her PhD from Tufts Sackler School of Medicine. She is the Deputy Director of Virology at Sanofi Pasteur (formerly OraVax and Acambis Inc), in the Discovery-US Group based in Cambridge, MA. There she is the principal investigator of a project developing a novel HIV vaccine based on flavivirus vectors conducted in collaboration with the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. She made significant contributions to the recently published single-dose vaccine against tick-borne encephalitis, and acted as a PI on projects aimed at the development of novel flavivirus-vectored vaccine candidates against rabies and other non-flavivirus pathogens. She also worked on expression systems for developing a universal flu vaccine, and made significant contributions to a vaccine against Clostridium difficile which is now in phase III clinical trials.
